IYT Small Powerboat And Rib Master (MCA approved)
This 2 day course, is run out of Soper's Hole Marina for students who wish to be a responsible skipper on board a small power boat or RIB.
The certificate is a commercial licence, so great for people working in the industry or those wanting to charter their own yacht and need to safely take family and friends ashore when at anchor or on a mooring ball.
This course teaches you to be a responsible captain in charge of a small power boat or RIB up to a maximum length of 15 metres and its crew within 20 miles of a safe haven, in fair weather (as guidance wind of less than force 6 and less than 3 metre waves) and daylight hours.
You will have classroom and practical training during your 2 days. The practical part will be on a tender; with either centre console or tiller steering; with inboard/outboard, stern drive or jet drive engines. The vessel will be a day boat in which it is intended NOT to accommodate the crew overnight. (Free free to ask us if you need advice on accommodation)
Our courses are usually 1 instructor to 5 students. Your instructor will work with you every step of the way.

Prerequisties To Completing IYT RIB Master
There is no prerequisite for the IYT Powerboat & RIB Master course. We just ask that you supply your IYT membership number before you start your course (easy to do, just register on IYT website). We also ask that you download the course notes before you arrive.
The format for the 2 days will be, 1/2 classroom theory and 1/2 on the tender gaining practical skills.
Day 1: 9.30am Arrive at our classroom in Soper’s Hole Marina to meet your fellow students and instructor. After completing your IYT paperwork, class begins.
The end of day 1 you will return ashore (no accommodation proved for this course).
Day 2: 9:00am back at TSS classroom for your second day of practical and classroom training. The second day you will have your practical exam and written exam in the afternoon. Your instructor will be able to to give you your exam results before you leave us.
